My girlfriend's computer keeps crashing unexpectedly.
Good day everyone,
My long-distance girlfriend was with me for two weeks when she returned home. Her computer began exhibiting unusual behavior—frequently shutting down at random intervals. Previously it would shut down 2-3 times daily, but now it's happening 5-10 times per day, and recently five times within a couple of minutes. Examining the event viewer shows only one anomaly: Kernel-Power reporting that the system rebooted without a clean shutdown. This could indicate the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. It occurred during heavy load or when the computer was idle (afk). Even while checking BIOS settings, no error LEDs were illuminated. Anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue?
Here’s a summary of the hardware and software I’m using:
Operating System: Windows 11 Home
Power Supply: Inter Tech Argus 650W
Processor: Intel Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz
Cooler: Not specified, temperatures appear normal
Memory: Kingston 32GB DDR4-3200
Storage: Toshiba 1TB HDD
Storage SSD (Windows): Samsung MZVPV256HDGL 256GB
GPU: Asus TUF GAMING OC V2 RTX 3060 Ti
We’re at a loss for solutions and it’s really frustrating since we can’t play games or communicate effectively on the PC.
Any advice or support would be extremely helpful.
Best regards,
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Frequently shutting down at random times, it used to occur 2-3 times daily but now it happens 5-10 times a day and recently five times in just a few minutes.
This occurs during heavy loads and also when the system is idle.
Your device will power off for two main reasons:
1) Overheating problem
2) The PSU can't supply enough power to the system.
PSU: Inter Tech Argus 650w
How long has your unit been in use? That's a very doubtful period.
I recommend finding a well-built 650W~750W unit and testing if the issue continues.
Side note, what BIOS version are you running on your motherboard?
I thought I didn't really answer your message, so let me try once more haha.
Hello Lutfij, thank you a lot for the quick reply.
Her profile details are: 3005 x65, built on 14/12/2023, EC version 11.8.80.3746, LED EC version AUMA0-E6K5-0104.
She lives in Slovenia and we’re both students, so we’re still on a tight budget. She doesn’t have access to a good unit, so she ordered this one because we believe it’s the PSU model. I hope it solves the problem. Unfortunately, the most common PSUs are from Inter Tech.
She linked this product here: https://komponentko.si/napajalniki/inter...apajalnik/
If we trust the site, it should be a solid choice.
I’ll keep you posted!
