Hey everyone, I was thinking I’d share a story about a friend who struggles with internet connectivity. He’s been dealing with terrible speeds for a long time, until he finally switched to a new router and went for “super fast fiber optic broadband.” But in our area, it’s just fiber to the green box and then copper to the premises—so not quite what they promised. Before that upgrade, his average speed was around 1.2mbps, which is really low compared to the maximum of 33.3mbps he could get. Now that he has the new router, his speeds have improved to about 1.9mbps, even though Sky claims a 30mbps download. I’ve tried explaining things, but he’s pretty resistant and it’s tough to make sense of it. The bigger problem is he can’t play FIFA online without delays over 300ms, which is really frustrating. I’ve had some ideas about what might be going on, but Sky hasn’t reported any issues. I’m not sure if his home connection uses a phone line or underground cable. Networking isn’t my area of expertise, but I can follow the general concerns. If anyone has tips or suggestions, it would be super helpful. Thanks!
