My friend seemed quite confused. Two pieces of metal can't make full contact without thermal paste. What advice should sales associates be sharing in this way? Is it possible to avoid using thermal paste on a water cooler? He's already overclocking his 6700k.

They are usually provided with it already applied, or a small tube is included in the package.
The sales drone might be stating... "You don't require any additional thermal paste."

You're right, but many AIO liquid coolers include thermal pre-application.

The majority of AIO water coolers include thermal paste or have it applied before use.
