When I shut down my PC and both school laptop and desktop computer, Discord shuts down too. But if I check the Task Manager, it shows as still running in the background and using up CPU power. Every time I want to close it, I have to manually kill it from there, which is annoying. Is there a way to stop this?

You can turn off the "Minimize to Tray" setting in your Discord user settings. When you click the X button, it will shut down the whole game instead of just moving it into the bottom tray. To do this: go to User Settings > Windows Settings and disable that option. Now closing the program will close it fully, not hide it on the taskbar.

You can turn off the setting that puts Discord in your tray. If you want to close Discord fully when you quit, go to User Settings and find Windows settings. Turn off "Minimize to Tray". This will close the app instead of just putting it in the bottom bar.

Yeah, it works now. The system tray has turned off and I'm all set, thank you!

I'm using Windows 10 Pro, and it says in my user settings that Discord is installed as a 64-bit program. But when I check Task Manager, the computer thinks it's running mostly in 32-bit mode. Around 2016, I stopped letting Discord move to the tray bar so it can't accidentally open again while I'm typing. Every time I switch computers or start fresh with Windows, one of my first things is uninstalling and reinstalling Discord. Even after I completely close all tabs in Task Manager, two more versions of Discord 32-bit keep showing up on my screen. The moment I click "end task" to kill them, my CPU usage drops sharply. But earlier today? My i9-9900KF is sitting at 30% while the computer is supposed to be cool under load, even though Discord should only use a little bit of power. I looked at Task Manager and found six or more copies of Discord 32-bit still running in the background. I closed them one last time, but four of them didn't go away. My CPU usage stayed high, barely dropping below 5%. What is going on?
