I operate at an arcade with a machine that plays fruit ninja. It runs on a small PC with Windows. I haven’t checked the specifications, but it freezes occasionally. The touch screen usually works, yet the game doesn’t respond. There’s a power button to restart it when it freezes. The BIOS battery was recently replaced, but it hasn’t changed how the machine behaves. I’m concerned something might be wrong because we don’t shut it down properly at the end of the day—just turn off the breaker. Is that harmful to the parts causing this issue? I’m unsure how to get it out of kiosk mode or back to the desktop since there’s no keyboard. Could this be a power supply problem? I’m not sure how much troubleshooting is possible without a keyboard or opening it up. It could be any number of things—RAM, CPU, motherboard, etc. I don’t know if anyone can help me right now.

It seems like you're dealing with RAM or power supply issues. If your system has dual-channel RAM, remove one stick and test each one individually. If one works but the other doesn<|pad|>, it might point to RAM or power supply problems. If you completely cut off power, turn off the PSU and then the breaker. For longer durability, keep the power on instead of shutting it down. You might have altered the PSU if it functioned before.

Improper shutdown shouldn't affect hardware but it totally can corrupt the OS. So it's quite likely the hardware is fine but the thing needs a clean reinstall or at least a filesystem and system integrity check.

Freezing often results from a damaged operating system or overheating. Execute sfc /scannow via cmd with admin privileges to check OS integrity. Should the scan indicate everything is fine, track system temperatures under stress using a utility such as "hwinfo." If the issue persists and isn't due to overheating, consider reinstalling the OS.
