My desktop machine isn’t substandard. I possess a Ryzen 2600, 16 GB of memory, and a 960 drive – the sole component that feels old. I experience game freezes during gameplay, followed by a loss of sound. Despite consistently achieving framerates exceeding 100, I’ve been banned from online gaming competitions twice due to these issues. My system requires a considerable amount of time to initialize, largely attributable to the absence of a solid-state drive. What steps can I take to resolve these problems?

Certainly. However, it’s crucial to check if one of your memory cards is the source of the problem. Freezing episodes often occur when a memory page becomes damaged. If possible, test each card individually for a complete operation or longer. This will help you identify if any are defective.

A problematic hard drive (HDD) or solid-state drive (SSD), along with a malfunctioning graphics card, can also be responsible. Investigating freezing issues can be frustrating due to the numerous potential causes.

Is the entire system unresponsive, necessitating a restart? Or is it only the gaming application experiencing problems?

Execute
CCleaner, performing both the Cleaning and Registry functions. Observe if this resolves any software disagreements.

Consider utilizing the complimentary
Malwarebytes
scan to determine whether malicious code is consuming resources or causing conflicts. A virus check could also identify potential issues.

Are numerous programs operating silently in the background during your gaming sessions?

My computer completely stopped responding, and despite following your advice, it remains frozen. I attempted to use the cl_dissaehtmlmotd command and re-examined the game files, but neither action resolved the issue. A virus scan revealed no problems, and I ensured that no other programs were running at the time.

Have you executed a complete test using memtest86+ on every memory module separately? Is there an alternative graphics card you could try to see if the issue persists? Please specify your motherboard model and power supply manufacturer/model. Are you currently adjusting any settings for overclocking?

I’m not pushing my graphics card beyond its limits. I'm utilizing an MSI 470 X Gaming and a Corsair CX 550M power supply. This is my only graphics card, and I currently don't have a USB flash drive available to run memtest.

Certainly. However, it’s crucial to check if one of your storage devices is the source of the problem. Freezing issues often occur when a memory page becomes damaged. If possible, run individual tests on each stick for an extended period to determine if a specific device is defective.

A problematic hard drive or solid-state drive, as well as a malfunctioning graphics card, could also be the cause. Investigating freezing issues can be frustrating due to the numerous potential hardware components involved.
