My computer shuts down unexpectedly due to excessive CPU activity.
Over the past six months my computer has experienced random shutdowns. This was the first time it happened after swapping my Ryzen 3 2300x for a Ryzen 5 5600x about three years ago. It only occurred once, but then started again with only the first few helldivers 2, eventually spreading to other games. The CPU temperatures never exceed 83 degrees under full stress. Non-CPU intensive games are unaffected. Anyone know of a solution?

include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

I discovered a solution for exporting to preserve previous data, resetting the BIOS, and enabling only Precision Boost Overdrive and XMF save state. Still, I think the main problem lies with the motherboard.
The CPU temperatures stay below 83 under full stress. Non-CPU intensive games are unaffected. Based on your description, I still think this might be a temperature issue. The max temperature seems okay for a new CPU, but it could be a problem now. I believe the chance of temperature-related issues grows as components age. All factors can degrade over time. It would help to identify the cause by improving cooling in the CPU area and then testing performance changes.
