My computer is making funny noises when I finish a long drive.
hi everyone, here are my computer specs: a cpu called i5-9400F, 2 ram sticks of 16gb memory running at 2666mhz, a motherboard from asus named prime b365m-a, an ssd that is the wd black model sn750 with 500gb storage in m.2 format, a psu that is evga with 600 watts and 80+ bronze rating, and a gpu made by asus called the 3070rtx. now here is the problem: one month ago i took my pc on a car trip, then after that trip it started acting weird in general. when I open up programs, both the cpu and ram use way more power for just about five seconds before going down. overall performance got worse, and the cpu speed became all over the place. for example, the speed went from 3.9 GHz to somewhere around 1.0 GHz and then back up again and down again constantly while idling (not when playing games). the most annoying part is the game on the lighthouse map called ef. after that game i started having trouble with frames per second; it doesn't load at first, if it takes too long to start it times out, it freezes, and if I try to alt-tab the game it usually crashes. Other maps also feel less smooth when loading, but this is just a momentary thing, though I have to close most programs like my browser, steam, wallpaper engine, etc., which used to be fine before. so far i tried cleaning everything out, changing thermal paste, making sure there aren't too tight screws on the pc, and doing a full scan for malware or viruses. i don't even have cpu temperatures issues, nor do i have any cpu throttling happening. here is an image of my computer setup at this time: https://imgur.com/a/1iw6Reb to know if there is anything else I can fix or just tell me what the problem is please d
The only way a car ride would mess up your PC is if the road was really bumpy. When this happens, some cables or parts might come loose. To fix it, you'd have to take everything out and put them back again (which is like doing a full rebuild). But sometimes problems start right after a trip, even though the real cause could be anything, like an old Windows update that happened before or after the ride.
Did you remove any parts from the computer and put them in a separate box while moving it around?
First thing: The main reason is that things got worse after that. I don't even remember anything else except that one thing, but I think maybe I'm getting lost in the noise and my best guess at what's going on is this whole situation. Second thing: Intel stock, link to image above, I never changed it because I didn't think it was a good idea at the time.
I put in almost everything back together, but I left the board out. Maybe it was just luck and the car never broke anything.
Yeah, I pulled out the GPU and hard drive, leaving all the other stuff inside the PC. I made sure to take care of it properly too. Also, this is the second time my computer has gone on a trip. Last time I did the same thing, but I'm still worried about what might happen if something breaks during the journey.
