Greetings,

I recently experienced a power surge while adding RGB fans to my system, leading me to purchase a new 650-watt PSU from EVGA. After connecting the cables and booting my computer, everything initially functioned correctly; however, Windows subsequently displayed an automatic repair indicator before the system abruptly switched to a black screen and indicated a lack of signal. I've attempted troubleshooting by disconnecting all components associated with my SSD and hard drives, including their respective cables (SATA connections). Furthermore, I utilized a USB drive during the Windows installation process within a recovery environment, yet the issue persisted. A video demonstrating this problem is available at: https://youtu.be/6x2-v_zTwKI

I’m attempting to install Windows, but the issue arises when I reach the selection menu for which version to install. The computer then either reboots or displays a black screen without an image output.

Could you provide details about your computer’s hardware configuration?

Did that fan on your graphics card become particularly noisy towards the conclusion of that session?

Were you running any modifications to your processor’s speed settings?

A Ryzen 5 2600 processor, paired with 16GB of RAM, and an RTX 2060 graphics card on an ASRock X470 Master motherboard. It appears the issue stemmed from the GPU fans, as during a power supply test that pushed the PSU to its limits, the graphics card was unexpectedly disconnected. Furthermore, I did not modify any overclocking settings.

You've attempted fixing the issue using both your hard drive and a USB drive, haven’t you? Have you considered completely reinstalling Windows? I experienced a comparable problem some time ago. I can’t recall exactly what triggered mine, perhaps it was due to tweaking overclocking settings. Ultimately, I resolved the problem by deleting the drive and performing a fresh installation of Windows.

I attempted to disconnect all components associated with the SSD and hard drives, encompassing their connectors (SATA cables).

I’m puzzled. Did you remove every drive? Or did you only disconnect the drives except for the one you were intending to install Windows on?

Although unlikely, it's possible that you caused damage due to stressing the power supply unit. The computer is still initiating, however.

Were you running a program like Afterburner to manage the graphics card’s fan speeds?
