My computer completely freezes whenever I try to play Dota 2 or CS:GO.
I’ve noticed a really strange thing happening with just two specific games. I'll be playing, and suddenly the game freezes completely on its own. I’ve tried running everything else at my screen resolution of 1920x1200 and a smooth 60 frames per second, but it still happens. I used to have no issues with *Batman: Arkham Knight* when Epic Games gave it away, though I did encounter a problem with the audio cutting out during some of the cutscenes near the end. *The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition* runs perfectly at maximum settings, even with a lot of mods installed. Games like *Valorant*, *Fortnite*, and *League of Legends* also run without a hitch. In fact, I even went so far as to reinstall Windows from a flash drive to try and fix it. This started happening right after I switched from my old Intel i7 4770k processor to a Ryzen.
I have 16GB of RAM and a GTX 960 graphics card, paired with a Ryzen 5 2600. I test *Dota* and play around with the characters in the demo, and it still freezes up after about 30 minutes. *Counter-Strike* isn't as bad, but it still occasionally freezes. No matter what I try—Ctrl+Alt+Delete doesn’t work—I can't seem to get it to stop. Honestly, I wouldn’t be posting about this if it actually worked. It's also frustrating because I rarely manage to reconnect, and when I do reset, my Wi-Fi completely stops working. By the time I can reconnect, it’s usually too late to play.
Hey, just checking in on some temporary temps you’re seeing while things are running heavily. Also, could you let me know which drivers you're using and what wattage your power supply is?
I’ve got a Cx550m and I’ve updated all the drivers, but my computer still makes that really loud, dryer-like noise when it’s cooling down. It seems to be especially noticeable with games like Dota and CSGO, but GTA runs perfectly fine – I’ve never had any problems with it. Lately, I'm wondering if it might be something to do with Source 2 not playing nicely with my system.
