My clocks are slowing down during warm weather.
I have an athlon x4 840 and achieved an oc from 3.7ghz to 4.3 with a small voltage increase. However, during a stress test my cpu drops clocks from 4.3 to around 1.7ghz. I'm using amd overdrive to track the temperatures, and the thermal margin is about 30C under full load. What should I do?
It might be the voltage regulator temperatures that are restricting performance, not the CPU temperatures.
An infrared thermometer could be an option. Consider taking off the side panel of the case and directing a desk fan toward the motherboard to guarantee the VRMs receive cooling air.
I have molex fans... I'll try them and see if it resolved the issue...
I determined that VRMs are the main issue, and I realized I can't rely on a fan for cooling due to space constraints. Are there other effective methods to cool my VRMs?
