My Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 has some problems.
Hi, so a few days ago I upgraded my Gigabyte P75-D3 to an AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 (which is used). I want to overclock my i5-3570K. When I go into the BIOS and click on the OC Tweaker tab, I type in a number past 38 for the CPU ratio option, but it just doesn't work. If I type that number back, it goes back down to 38. That is supposed to be the maximum turbo boost for my i5-3570K, right? I don't know if that's normal or what because I'm new at overclocking. Also, I can't change the value of the Intel Turbo Boost option; it looks locked or stuck somewhere. There is also no XMP profile even though the manual says there should be one for my RAM. If it helps, I have an 8GB stick of Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 running at 1600MHz with CL10. I updated the BIOS to the latest version and nothing changed yet. Maybe the motherboard is broken? Should I return it and get my money back? Or is there just something wrong that needs fixing? Thanks so much in advance. Maybe check your computer's details like this: CPU, Motherboard, RAM, SSD or HDD, GPU, Power Supply Unit, Chassis, and Operating System. Can you type a number smaller than 38 and then restart the system to see if the multiplier is set to that number? I think we are talking about the multiplier on the board or processor. Which BIOS version do you have right now?
Lutfij: You should tell me about your computer like this: CPU, Motherboard, RAM, SSD or HDD, GPU, Power Supply, Case, Operating System: Can you try typing a number smaller than 38 and then restarting the computer? I think you are talking about the multiplier on the board or processor. What BIOS version do you have? I tried this before updating the BIOS and my speed got slower but now I will try again. The BIOS version is 3.00 Edit: well, I tried, but now I don't get a lower speed. My turbo speed is actually running at 3.6Ghz on all cores
BringerOfTea: That basically means an overclock. When turbo mode is on, it doesn't boost all cores in the same way. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...ssors.html We don't tell people how high each core goes when it's Turbo Boost on. I didn't know that, but that speed isn't what I need. I want to push the CPU to 4.5 or higher if I can manage it. Do you have any tips on this?

I switched from an Asus P67 to an Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 with my 2600k. It ran stable at 4.8 before I started building it. Now that I put her on the new board, she can't overclock anymore. No XMP support either. Honestly, this motherboard is pretty useless if you want to push her hard.
