hello, i recently wanted to resume playing cod mw2 again, but for some reason i can't adjust the resolution or aspect ratio. otherwise it just crashes and forces a reinstall to see anything. i tried using my external 4k monitor where it attempted widescreen mode but couldn't set the resolution to 4k either, ending in a black screen once more. i'm running on an alienware 15r4 setup: i7 8750h, gtx 1070 512gb, pcie ssd 1tb, laptop screen is 1080p ips 60hz, g-sync external monitor is 4k ips 60hz, non-g-sync.

The game has an age... It explains why it doesn't run on large screens.

Hey... I guess you were thinking about Mechwarrior 2, huh? But Modern Warfare 2 is pretty much an old game, so compatibility problems are likely. Checking out some of these older threads might help. The top advice is to use the DirectX installer file. You can find it here: https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solve...em.876691/ And also on Steam: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f...=382895257

It consistently functioned well on my previous computer at 4K resolution, but now it's causing issues only on my current laptop during this test. I should begin by reinstalling the game.
