Hi everyone, I just purchased an Orbi RBK50 multiroom Wi-Fi device, but it hasn't worked as expected. Frequent disconnections lasting 10 to 30 seconds occurred on both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections. Many users reported similar issues, so I decided to return it. I'm unsure what to expect from this product. My requirements are:

- Need a multiroom or mesh setup
- Satellite must support at least three Ethernet ports (or can I connect via a switch?)
- Prefer simple interface over complex menus; I like straightforward apps
- Budget around 300–350 euros, willing to spend more if it's worth it
- Cover both floors—especially upstairs where the router is located
- Considered options like Asus ZenWiFi ct8 or a general Ubiquiti configuration

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Are you able to run ethernet to rooms from a central location? Is there any reason why you absolutely cannot? Getting good WiFi coverage between floors is difficult with mesh and repeater systems. You're not only up against the interference and signal attenuation from walls/floors, but you're relying on a wireless backhaul to the base station. I'll admit that the RBK50 should be one of the better models given its dedicated 5GHz band for backhaul, but it's still a wireless-to-wireless link. Can you share a sketch of the floor plan of the house and the general dimensions you're working with? You'll have to try the CT8 for yourself to determine. As for Ubiquiti, it works better as a traditional network setup, i.e. with ethernet between access point and switch/router. There are some mesh APs that seem to work fairly decent, but you'll need regular UniFi APs to mesh the signal and the cost of everything might exceed your budget.

Hi there, thanks for reaching out! I noticed you shared the same question on other platforms, and they echoed your thoughts. I’ve taken that advice into account and decided to go with the Ubiquiti dream machine, including an access point and switch. I also have an Ethernet cable running upstairs for a wired connection. Appreciate your feedback and your opinion—what do you think about this configuration? Thanks again!
