I maxed out the multiplier on my i7 3770k, which is x42. It’s not the best setup, as x43 is unreliable and requires significantly higher voltage for stability, which isn’t worth the trade-off. I’m okay with a 4200mhz clock speed, but I’m curious—can adjusting the FSB speed improve performance? Would that cause instability, and is it worth the risk?

FSB could cause instability by altering more than just the CPU speed. It’s also not a good investment since any improvement won’t be obvious beyond benchmarks.
