Hello
in my present arrangement I have these two configurations:
- bedroom desk with a work laptop, connected via docking station linking to keyboard/mouse/headset and two regular monitors for remote work
- gaming PC in a separate room with a curved 34-inch display, keyboard/mouse/headset, plus a controller and printer for home use

Now I need to consolidate them into one space. I want everything to function smoothly without constantly plugging and unplugging. I’m looking for a docking solution that can handle both setups, ideally using a single port or interface that supports multiple devices. Also, I should know what I’ll need to avoid interruptions while switching between the two environments. Please let me know if this makes sense.

Thank you

KVM: Keyboard, video, mouse included.
The most probable need is a KVM switch enabling you to manage one keyboard, multiple monitors, and a mouse, allowing seamless switching between a surface laptop or a gaming PC as desired. Adding two monitors can add some complexity.
Rather than direct connections to the laptop, KVM signals would travel through docking station ports.
Begin with a basic sketch or diagram illustrating your setup idea.
List every device, port, plug, cable type, and connector involved. Mention power sources, internet access, and any peripheral cables or adapters.
Search online for KVM diagrams to gather examples and options that align with your plan.
Adjust your design as needed and narrow down the search criteria.
The goal is clearly defining the exact specifications for your KVM workstation.
After finalizing the sketch, contact KVM manufacturers to find a product that satisfies or surpasses your requirements.
Details are important.
