Multiple issues detected on the risk router. Surfboard SBG6400.
Multiple mistakes appear in the event log on my router interface. Usually I just overlook them, but lately several devices on my network keep disconnecting from the Wi-Fi almost every day. Reconnecting and plugging it back in helps temporarily, though since I switched to a personal router last January, the problems persist. Mostly they happen 2-3 times weekly, sometimes daily. It was purchased in January 2017 and works well for my wired PC connection. The main issue is frequent Wi-Fi drops. Being a single-band router on the 2.4 channel, I wonder if a new device is needed or if adjusting settings could resolve these issues. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It seems the issue might lie with the router itself, since many affordable models now support dual-band connectivity, making a single-band setup seem subpar.
Initially it’s a gateway not a router. The key distinction is that your setup includes both a router and a modem in one unit. Most issues here relate to the modem itself. Problems might stem from signal quality with your ISP, ongoing maintenance or upgrades in your area, or wiring concerns inside or outside your home. It’s worth contacting your provider for clarification. You can also check their specifications on their website to confirm compatibility. While the page mentions Comcast, this applies broadly to all ISPs using Docsis, essentially covering most cable companies.
