Multiple gaming platforms offer the same game.
I’ve found myself with a basic issue. I own a PC, Xbox, and PS4. My gaming buddies are spread across these devices. When I play Division on PC, everyone else is on PS4 or Xbox. I’m aware cross-platform play exists for some titles, but not for the ones I enjoy. The next idea was to buy the game on two different systems. That’s costly and not feasible. Besides trying to convince my friends to join me on their platform, what other options do I have?
Choose between visiting their home and playing together on their devices or abandon social interactions with console players and upgrade your friend’s setup to PC. Someone must switch platforms, especially since you’re on the better system—encourage the change. Alternatively, look for more gaming buddies on PC. Honestly, do they own PS4/Xbox One or PS3/Xbox 360? Used consoles and games are often available on Craigslist or eBay. Cross-platform compatibility helps with certain titles (like Rocket League), but FPS games usually don’t translate well. Using a mouse and keyboard will really beat anyone using a game pad; this has been shown in multiple cross-platform FPS tests.
