My computer stops unexpectedly while playing games. It happens with Cyberpunk, Control, Apex, Bioshock remastered and even TFT sometimes. I believed the issue was my graphics card not connecting properly, but that partially fixed it. GPU temps stay below 85/90°C. I found a mention about the 3080 model having some difficulties, and the fix was reducing its clock speed to around 15/20 GHz. I’m unsure what to try next. The system also has restart issues—it doesn’t power off fully but enters a kind of "sleep" where external parts stay on while the case and internal LEDs stay lit. The crashes seem to occur during gameplay. Edit: I tested lowering the GPU frequency and it helped. I also checked my PSU, which isn’t directly linked to the motherboard but via a power strip. Could that be contributing too? Keep in mind the PC doesn’t shut down completely, just crashes while running games. Edit 2: During a benchmark I watched GPU temps rise to 100°C internally and 90°C externally, yet fans spin at about 850 RPM—probably too low.
Inspect the cable links. Swap the rams to different sockets. If your RAM is in slot 1 or 3, move it to slot 2 or 4. I’m hoping this fixes the problem. If it doesn’t change, try another PSU. If the issue persists, maybe pray for a solution. Thanks.
Earlier models of the RTX 3080 experienced overheating issues, possibly related to the VRAM. It seems you might have encountered a problem card—check that. I’m not comfortable with DDR 5, but have you made sure your BIOS is up to date and applied the default settings afterward?
