Multiple crashes on my friend's and now my computer's CPU
Hello, here’s what I’ve found about the issue your friend has been experiencing since the beginning of his PC experience. Both of us have nearly identical systems. The details are as follows:
- Motherboard: AsRock B450 Pro 4 (with the latest BIOS)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- Cooler: Stock (his), Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB (my setup)
- RAM: GSKill Aegis 16GB at 3200 MHz (my version is 32GB now)
- GPU: GANIWARD Ghost NVidia GeForce RTX 2060
- PSU: Seasonic S12 III 550W
- Case: Kolink Observatory mesh lite / similar model
- Recent symptoms: Random, persistent BSODs occurring occasionally, sometimes weekly, other times daily.
We both started troubleshooting together, but I never faced this before. Eventually, we managed to identify a CPU-related error followed by a crash, which happened a few months ago. After he moved closer and we met in person, I asked him to bring his PC for a closer inspection. It became clear that the issue had escalated to the point where he could no longer boot his system.
Initially, I tried swapping his RAM with two sticks from mine to check if it was related. Since that didn’t help, I decided to swap our CPUs to see if the problem changed. Both tests showed stability at first, but then my PC began showing random BSODs again. Now I’m running out of options except to consider the motherboard as a potential culprit and the risk of CPU damage.
