Multi Room Gaming
Hi,
I’m facing a similar situation. I have an office upstairs but often want to play games in the bedrooms, which are far away. I need at least four USB ports in the bedroom and a display cable. Ideally, everything should be wireless, though I’m not sure if that’s feasible. Additionally, could it be possible to run cables up to 15 meters to the bedroom? Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Brad
I understand you can obtain a SteamLink device (if they're still available, they were discounted recently) and then access your Steam library on your TV via a network connection, either wirelessly or through a cable. If you intend to play competitive or fast-paced games (such as FPS), the latency might affect your experience.
I believe NVIDIA also offers a network interface solution, though I'm not sure how it functions.
The optimal choice would be an optical Thunderbolt cable and dock, although this comes at a high cost. A 15-meter length is manageable. HDMI typically works up to 15 meters without signal degradation, though a powered extender can be added if needed. You might also manage with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse using a large external antenna on the computer, or opt for a USB over Ethernet extender.
