You should check the available Linux distributions listed in MultiMC 5. If it’s the Ubuntu version, select that. For a 64-bit generic tar.gz file on Debian Buster, download it separately and use the appropriate tool for that distribution.

The specified Ubuntu version should function, and it will be a standard .deb package. Remember to install qt5-default using apt, as the guidance indicates.

i’m not sure what’s going wrong... i’ve checked all dependencies, but installation isn’t working. the menu doesn’t appear (with xfce) or there’s no desktop shortcut, though i can still open it. i’m hoping it will function now... unfortunately, i haven’t managed to install linjux mint debian edition yet, especially with wifi setup issues.
