MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo compatible with 2B postcode area.
Computer isn't starting. Debug lights show 2b on the M.2 SSD. Everything else is off except the SSD, keyboard, and mouse. Tried Intel graphics but nothing works. RAM is set to 1DIMM (all 4 slots), no improvement. CPU is 4790K with 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro. Used MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB and Corsair CS850M. Modular 80 Plus Gold. Need help quickly—system crashed during a game and I had to reset it.
I don't understand the meaning of that post code. It doesn't appear in the MSI manual. Let's try accessing the M.2 first to check for any issues.
After hours of trying to fix things, it turns out one of the four RAM sticks isn’t working properly. It looks like I’ll have to return it for a replacement tomorrow—really frustrating! I’m not sure why I missed it during the initial testing.
The Corsair RMA support team has been helpful based on my experience (limited to their specific branch). For future reference, you can check the postcode details yourself—it’s useful to know if you have the same model and are looking for relevant information.
It was the same issue again—I powered down the PC, rearranged the RAM modules, and it resolved itself.
It isn't listed in the manual. The error code seems to match 26, possibly indicating a memory issue after research. This thread was helpful—I removed one stick of RAM and it worked again.
From the paper manual: 1D-2F,31,3F~4E,50~55 "Early Memory Initialisation". It might be labeled "2b" but all uppercase letters make it confusing.
