I recently assembled a brand new system using the MSI Z270-A PRO motherboard, and it doesn’t have an RGB header. There appears to be an opportunity to solder a 4-pin header as if the board supports it. I’m seeking some additional perspectives before making any changes. The empty contact points in the image are labeled JLED1. The board also came with MSI Mystic Light software; currently, it only controls the pre-soldered white LED strip.

In general, they avoid placing the parts on the board for the RGB control systems and omit software assistance, resulting in just an unused port and connection.

That’s the kind of thought I usually have, but because the software comes with built-in support for the LEDs on the board, I figured it might actually be possible. Most probably you’re correct, though I’m not sure anymore.

Use a multimeter to check for voltage when adjusting the RGB settings. If no power appears, grey out or turn off the feature.
