Hello, I encountered an issue with my MSI Z170A M7 motherboard USB C/3.1 port. It works fine when connecting directly, but data transfers at full speed from PC to device while downloading, but only partial speed when receiving. Using a Wi-Fi adapter fixes the upload speed but not the download. Switching ports resolves the download speed issue. I suspect this might be related to the port or controller rather than the BIOS. My system has a modded BIOS with an Intel 9600k CPU and a coffee lake CPU installed. The problem started recently, possibly after a modification. I connected a device with a modded C-type port as a charger; it failed to connect properly, possibly causing the issue. I’m unsure if this is due to a damaged ASMedia ASW1142 controller or a faulty capacitor that could be replaced easily with a multimeter and some soldering skills. Lol the part number you mentioned seems off in the title. I found it already shared on several forums. This chip is pretty outdated, so it’s likely to be inexpensive now. It should support 10Gbps (roughly a gigabit per second). The SSD you connected probably has insufficient SLC cache or is low quality. Your USB3 port is damaged and can’t negotiate USB3. Also, I’m confused about your microsoldering skills and lack of electronics diagnostics experience. Check the data sheet for traces to verify continuity and shorts on the PCB.
My bad sorry, just edited it, yeah I posted this post on every forum I could find cuz I couldn't find anything similar on the web anywhere :'), SSD performs well on other PCs with USB C so I can confirm that the SSD is well known working part, probably the USB port is damaged and that's why I'm looking for someone who can guide me to test it, cuz I can't find a faulty fuse anywhere on the board (around or far from the controller even if it's not for the port) The port was working perfectly before recently, so the controller is either faulty or something else is interfering with it's functionality I said "fairly good" not (professional) with microsoldering, it's just a hobby with trail and fail process on a scrap old PCBs, but yeah I'm not an expert in diagnosing electronics parts sadly, hence I'm asking for help.

It’s functioning, isn’t it? Just one port might have a single damaged pin—try swapping the C cable to check if the issue is with the port or the trace. Why dismiss such a small detail?
