The additional four-pin connector is not mandatory; it's mainly for intense overclocking. An 8-bit EPS can deliver up to 384 watts, or more if needed.

You don't have to add the extra 4-pin, and skipping the X570-A Pro would be a smarter choice—it's likely more affordable and just as good.

Thanks guys. Your knowledge is very much appreciated. The price difference is only £5, with the B550-A Pro being the more expensive of the 2 boards. And the B550 Board won't support 2nd Gen Ryzen will it? I was holding out for the B550 chipset boards which is why it's taken me until July to even consider which board to buy. But after reading on AMD's site that there is no support for 2nd Gen Ryzen on the B550 Chipset I decided to opt for the X570 boards instead.

The ASUS Prime X570-P offers a more basic setup but delivers decent power delivery, comparable to their premium models such as the Strix X570-F. It's a strong choice for its price point. I didn't realize the CPU was mentioned in the first post.

I evaluated the ASUS Prime X570-P, but honestly the cost was a deterrent. It’s roughly £30 higher than the MSI X570-A Pro. That amount could have been used for some good DDR4 RAM. I won’t purchase RAM until August. Next month’s only need will be RAM, which will be the main item I buy then. After that, I’ll have a setup capable of running the games I want. I won’t push the system to overclock much, so strong CPU power delivery shouldn’t be an issue. It’s been tough playing recent releases with decent settings on my old Pentium D925—even after pushing it to 3.4GHz. I built this machine over a decade ago and haven’t upgraded anything else except adding 2GB of RAM for Windows 10. I’m excited about getting PCIe x16 3.0 for the graphics card instead of the current x16 1.0, and switching to SATA 6GB/s for SSDs and HDDs rather than the older 1.5Gb/s. Those two upgrades alone will significantly boost performance, regardless of the extra cores and threads from my Ryzen 5 2600X.
