the issue with this motherboard seems to stem from weak signal strength and limited wifi performance. the router is close enough, but the distance difference between your PC in the basement and the router on the ground floor affects connectivity. you're experiencing only 3-10 Mbps speeds despite having fiber internet, which is unusual. the signal quality appears poor, especially at 2.4 ghz rather than the expected 5 ghz range. your phone connects smoothly to 5 ghz while your PC struggles, suggesting the hardware or configuration might be mismatched. despite checking antennas, drivers, and BIOS updates, the problem persists. a Wi-Fi extender helped improve speeds on your PC to 200-300 Mbps, indicating the original setup may not be optimal. consider verifying antenna placement, testing different channels, and possibly upgrading to a higher-bandwidth wifi chip if possible.

Antennas attached to the rear of the motherboard significantly hinder signal quality. Superior models often include detachable antennas that can be positioned elsewhere, like on eBay listings such as this one.

Thanks for the response, buddy. I'll remember this from now on. I'll also give the antenna you suggested a chance—thanks for the link!
