MSI motherboard selection depends on your system needs and budget.
I’m struggling to decide since I want a Ryzen 5 1600 but bought a Ryzen years ago without checking compatibility. My budget is tight, and I’m unsure if the motherboard will work. I need advice on how to proceed.
Approximately 130 might work. I already have an old graphics card that I plan to reuse on a new motherboard for a while. I understand you can install it, but I don’t think it’s suitable for gaming anymore—it wouldn’t be fun to play games with it.
I thought you'd pick that motherboard, or you wouldn't be going for the 1600. It sits right at the boundary of the old CPU generation and socket, so it's important to double-check. Since you're considering MSI, they let you compare various boards, and anything marked red highlights the differences between them.
The motherboard works well with the Ryzen 5 1600 AF from the first BIOS, no problems at all.
Honestly, back when AMD faced problems with their BIOS and updates, I wasn't sure how things would look now. Since I have an Intel board running the i7 8700k, I probably won't see it the way you did. The MSI site has all the B450 boards listed, and if you check the left side under the chipset, you'll find an arrow to pick those models.
