so much confusion out there, but Im just overwhelmed as to whether I can use the ax200 or must use the CNVi0-1 9560 ?? I have a Asus RT-AX82U 5400 router so I could take advantage of it all the ads on Newegg and Amazon for the ax200 say not for CNVi but some threads indicate it works but I cant nail down if my mb will work or not. thanks doug

It depends on whether the device is designed specifically for CNVi or could also function via PCIe unofficially. There might be a possibility it works with a cheaper PCIe adapter, allowing you to test in M.2 slots. If not, simply reinstall it in the original PCIe slot. For better compatibility, consider an AX210 or BE200 model if available.

BillBill demonstrates the MSI specifications list "CNVi" while some discussions suggest PCIe cards can function. I believe additional experience might be guiding this choice, though most AX200 listings still warn against CNVi. My stance leans toward CNVi only, since the AX211 is reportedly 10th generation or newer. With an i9-9900 CPU, I was leaning toward the AX200 for better performance. I have a few older Dell models running the Fenvie AX1800H without issues, so I aimed for a solid speed option without needing a cat6 connection.

The AX200 would function properly. CNVi cards are designed for Intel CPUs, meaning an Intel AX card using the E key would be compatible.

You don't need a CNVi card. It's built for Intel processors. The feature focuses on performance. The AX201 is essentially the CNVi adaptation of the AX200. They share the same specifications except the AX201 includes CNVi. You're not restricted to just the AX200 model.

CNVi focuses on improving power efficiency. Therefore, the statement implies that a CNVio2 would not work well with a 9th generation processor due to mismatched power efficiency goals.

as you posted from the MSI website: 1 x M.2 slot (Key E) for an Intel ® CNVi wireless module only so the "only" was the reason for my original question, not to mention all the ads for these AX200 cards that say NOT FOR CNVi, here is an example: https://www.newegg.com/fenvi-ax200ngw-pc...DXZ9H62090 this is for a laptop but others with the antennas say the same thing I read a lot of posts that say the CNVio2 cards cause NO BOOT ISSUES in 8/9 gen CPU's and Intel says the two formats are not compatible
