I have an MSI H55M ED55 motherboard. I'm curious if I could install an Xeon CPU there. The MSI site doesn't mention it, only supporting Core i3/i5/i7. My current i5-650 is causing a bottleneck for my GPU. I'm considering upgrading to an Xeon X3430 or an i5-750. Should I choose the i5-750 (which is supported) or should I opt for the Xeon X3430? My socket is LGA 1156.

If the socket fits, proceed. However, if the names match but the manufacturer doesn't provide any details online, it may not be compatible.

Consider the X3470 if available—believe it's the quickest Xeon you can fit on your board. It doesn’t break the bank either.
