I purchased an MSI B550m Pro last month and waited for my Ryzen 5600G to install before powering it up. The board lacks all I/O ports—USB, HDMI, DisplayPort—and the debug LED indicates everything is fine. I bought it from Amazon and the return period closed the day after the GPU arrived. Should I contact MSI for an RMA or look for a 3000-series CPU instead? This is my first build.

When you first turn it on, initialization might take 1-2 minutes for the motherboard and BIOS, though it usually finishes in about 20-30 seconds. If you frequently power it off, you might miss out on updates. This model doesn’t support USB BIOS flashing, so you can’t use a USB stick to install new BIOS without a CPU. It seems your board may be outdated, possibly older than two months. You could try swapping in an older CPU and updating the BIOS, then reinstall the 5600G. Alternatively, bring back the 5600G and get a different graphics card.
