My computer won't turn on with the second RAM stick. The CPU indicator stays lit and no error messages appear. I've encountered many similar issues and tried various fixes. Sometimes it would start but then fail completely. I purchased an inexpensive CPU just to test my hardware, and it worked fine without any problems even with two RAM slots. I reported the CPU to RMA, received a replacement, and it functioned perfectly until I added a new power supply. It would occasionally boot twice before stopping again when the second slot was used. The CPU light came back up. I'm planning to buy another cheap CPU to verify my setup and, if it works, return it for repair. Interestingly, my new PSU from Corsair died after one day, which I recently replaced from RMA. My system currently includes: CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 (2 months old from RMA), Motherboard: MSI MPG B550I GAMING EDGE MAX WIFI, RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 16+16 GB, PSU: Corsair SF750 Platinum, GPU: Asus Strix 970 4GB. If the issue is with the CPU B-Channel, could it be that my motherboard behaves unpredictably and damages components? Are there any compatibility concerns? Having two CPUs with a B-Channel failure in three months seems unlikely... Any advice would be appreciated.

It seems like you're suggesting the motherboard might be faulty.

Issues with broken channels often stem from the cooler mount being either too snug or too slack, or from damaged/pierced pins, but based on your description these seem improbable here.

It might also be a dirty memory slot or CPU socket, though that seems unlikely. You can attempt to clean the RAM slots by applying 99% IPA, which takes 2-4 hours to dry and should effectively remove grime. If it’s the CPU socket, you’ll need to take off the retention and cover, as the cover may be prone to breaking—ask me how I know. Proceed with caution and enjoy the process if you manage to remove the cover safely.

It might be having issues, though the motherboard isn't gone. I'm typing this now using only one RAM stick. The issue starts when I try to add the second one...

It seems to function with other CPUs as well, so the issue likely isn't related to the RAM slot. I'll keep testing with another CPU this time.

The only possible issue would be if things were getting too tight... I might attempt to ease it a bit more...

Your RAM operates at a specific frequency. Have you experimented with different RAM modules?

I installed an upgrade in October 2022: a SilverStone SST-ST45SF-G (450W Gold), a GPU Asus Strix 970 4GB, fresh RAM, a new processor, and a refurbished motherboard with a 12-month warranty (Corsair Vengance LP 2x16 GB, Ryzen 5 5600, MSI MPG B550I GAMING EDGE MAX WIFI). Initially faced some issues getting everything to function properly, but after months it stabilized. In October 2023 my system stopped working altogether, showing the CPU light and failing to post. Early on I noticed different indicators in the motherboard, such as VGA or RAM signals. Once it started working again with just one RAM slot, I replaced the Ryzen 5600 with a Ryzen 1600 to verify the rest. I swapped my Ryzen 5600 into RAM and everything functioned correctly. I obtained a new PSU – Corsair SF750 Platinum – and installed it. After a day of operation the PSU failed, prompting me to return it for replacement. I received the new SF750 today, mounted it, and the computer restarted, though it displayed random lights in the motherboard and remained unresponsive until reaching the October stage where only the CPU light stayed on and posting was absent unless the second RAM stick was removed. Adjusting that resolved everything, but with half the RAM capacity.
