I was changing from a less stable version (a long story, rare problem with crashes at high load, but those details don’t matter for this issue) to a 5800x. I forgot to update the BIOS. When I realized my mistake, I tried flashing the BIOS but didn’t remember renaming the file. I swapped the CPU back and went through the BIOS to update it, then selected the new file as usual. The percentage kept going up—1%, 2%, etc. I went out for dinner and came back to find it was at 8%, which was fine, so I left it alone. Later I noticed the CPU fan speed wasn’t adjusting. I unplugged it and nothing changed. After some time I turned off the machine using the power button on the front panel. I won’t post anything. The EZ debug LED for the CPU is on. I powered it off a few times, reset everything, checked the CMOS battery, and shorted the CMOS to reset it. Still nothing changed. I switched back to the 5800x again but the CPU EZ debug light stayed on. I tried flashing the BIOS this time, and it worked properly. The LED lights up when you hold the button down, but it doesn’t blink as expected. I repeated all the steps mentioned before and still couldn’t fix it. Is my BIOS damaged? Can I recover or reset it somehow? Should I send it back for repair? Thanks.
You did great following the manual steps. The small extra details really helped. I removed the board and switched to a different USB, and it worked perfectly—now my 5800X is fully functional without any CPU issues!
