I bought a B450 Tomahawk Max and it arrived in the mail. being a first time PC builder I was excited, but waited for my other components to arrive before assembling. I assembled it no problem thinking this will be easy. Then the nightmaire started, when I flipped the power switch nothing. not even a fan spooled up. so I though oh no, and had a friend come over and help me test it and we figured out that it was DOA. That's fine, so I returned the m\board and bought another one. Lo and behold the same issue. Is this a common thing with msi products, I followed a build guide to the Tea, but still nothing. any suggestions Also, my specs are MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Ryzen 5 3400G Corsair DDR4 Vengeance ram, 3200 MHZ Corsair 650W Gold rated psu

I was wondering how they decided the boards were out of order. It's definitely possible that two in a row could be problematic, and I'm sure you and your friend didn't make an error. I just want to know for sure because I have the same board and it functioned properly. If it really is dead, then either take another chance or try a different board—there aren't many options left.

Even disconnecting the CPU still prevents the board from starting.

Removed the CPU, did not install anything, reattached RAM, didn't test the PSU, checked leads on the motherboard, and stopped trying to connect the board.

You won’t do that. Just plug in the USB, disconnect all the drives, leave the CPU running, remove the RAM (it doesn’t matter), power on, and press the flash button on the back panel. Check out a tutorial video for more details.

Are you certain it isn't the PSU? I'd connect another PSU to fully eliminate the possibility.

You replaced the board, right? Did you receive it again? Did you capture a photo of the serial number or the PSU problem? It seems like you and your friend likely considered this beforehand.
