I chose to attempt overclocking on a GTX970 G1 for the first time. After downloading MSIAfterburner based on some suggestions, I started the process immediately. I pushed the overclock beyond the recommended limits (over 1600 in valley benchmark), but after changing settings and saving in another profile, it would revert to the overclocked state and retain those changes. Disappointed with this outcome, I removed MSI Afterburner and ran the benchmark again, which still showed a performance of 1519. The expected natural boost was around 1380.
