Hi guys, I plan to purchase a new gaming PC with an MSI 970 graphics card paired with an AMD FX 6300. I’m looking for a board with OC capabilities between 4.0 and 4.2 to avoid overheating or issues with the CPU MOSFETs/VRM. If a bad board is necessary, would you recommend any alternatives?

I prefer a temperature range of 3.9 to 4.0ghz instead of 4.5ghz. I just need to confirm if this board handles VRMs well and works efficiently at higher temperatures.

Hi Roni911
The MSI 970 gaming MB and FX-6300 work, but for modern AAA titles or MMOs you'd get very slow performance and limited upgrade options. You might need a 4.5GHz OC with a good AIO cooler. Other options exist based on your budget.

i prefer not to go at 4.5ghz, i just want 3.9-4.0ghz i need to check if this board handles vrm well and works at high temperatures.
i don’t have any stock amd fx coolers, but i’m considering the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo.
i’m torn between the Asus M5A97 R2.0 and the MSI 970 Gaming.
