I'm also unsure about the discussion title. I'm not sure what it means.
I'm assembling a new computer and need to locate MS Word, Excel, etc., which I mean a collection of MS software. I've relied on my Higher Ed programs for years, but now I'm retired. I'm struggling with many of the current MS purchase options. I'm using Windows 11.
Here are a few quick questions I have:
First, is it true that MS 365 is the latest version of the MS Office suite? If so, where can I buy it at a reasonable price?
Second, as a retired professor, will that give me any special treatment? I don't think my university can assist directly.
Third, I own the complete MS Office 2010 version. Should that work on Windows 11, or might installing it cause issues?
Right now I don't have the latest word processing software, and I'd prefer to stick with MS products since I'm familiar with them.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I’m not sure about your budget, but I think the package is worth it. It also lets me share it with other family members.
The problems I’ve faced were with One Drive and the switch to New Outlook compared to Classical.
I don’t really use One Drive anymore, so it’s not a big deal. I used to stick with Outlook Classical, but New Outlook can be tricky sometimes.
If possible, you might want to ask if your university offers assistance—contact the Admin team or IT department for help.
Even though MS no longer supports it, Office 2010 remains functional on Windows 11. Outlook 2010 might face issues with newer email services needing two-factor verification, but this isn't related to the operating system itself.
