Hello, I just bought all the necessary parts for my first PC build. My friend has been advising me against spending money on the operating system and using his... questionable version. To be truthful, I’m not confident about it. I currently have a laptop running Windows 8.1 and was wondering if I could upgrade it to use my HDD instead of buying a new OS when I start building. Any suggestions would be really helpful 😊

With the OS key on your laptop, you can obtain the installer from Microsoft's site. But using it on a new device will cancel your previous one, so think carefully. It would be better to purchase another copy, especially if you're going to college where they usually provide free copies to students.

It looks like you're questioning the value of a low-cost, poorly made case despite its attractive appearance. This highlights a common concern about quality versus price.

You can get the installer by using a virtual machine or a compatibility layer that supports it.

Could have explored options from top manufacturers such as Corsair, NZXT, and Cooler Master.

It's a situation... It has no impact on the results.

Absolutely, if it's terrible, you might end up complaining later.
