Hello, I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 5 3600X and am curious about the performance gain I might see. Here’s my current configuration:

CPU: Intel i7-700K (boost up to 4.5 GHz)
Motherboard: ASUS Strix Z270E Gaming
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2070 8GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance – one stick of 16 GB at 2400 MHz

I’m planning to upgrade to:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X
Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
RAM: Two sticks of 8 GB at 3200 MHz
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2070 8GB

I'm primarily interested in knowing if I'll experience a significant improvement with the new CPU, or if simply adding more RAM would be a more beneficial upgrade, especially since I stream content occasionally.

It simply isn't worthwhile, truly. You could easily pay between 350 and more euros for a marginal improvement—perhaps just 10 to 20 frames per second in certain games, with no change in others. Furthermore, upgrading your motherboard will necessitate a complete reinstallation of Windows.

I recommend adding another 16gb stick to your existing configuration, or opting for a 2x8gb setup. Utilizing single-channel RAM is significantly less effective than dual-channel, as all the data flows through a single lane instead of two.

Begin by attempting the RAM upgrade. You may also experiment with increasing your processor’s speed, given you possess a ‘K’ model.
