Considering my plan to sell my 6700K will likely mean mailing it. It’s delidded, and I didn’t re-seal it for unclear reasons. I might be offering the CPU without a motherboard. I do have a plastic clamshell for LGA1151 CPUs. Should I just tape the CPU onto the clamshell, place it in the usual packaging (bubble wrap, ESD bag), and finish there? Or is that too dangerous? Any advice would be appreciated! Edited April 12, 2021 by alexander.o i can't spell

I think it's okay as long as the lid and everything is locked in. Wrap it firmly, ensure the clamshell is fully sealed, and you're good to go. You might want to apply a few strips of tape around the whole shell, making sure the tape adheres well, which definitely helps. Regarding the CPU and its cover, once the shell is closed tightly, it shouldn't shift much. Adding a bit of silicone at each corner of the lid can provide extra stability, though the unit remains removable for reTIM or other adjustments.

Great suggestion. I'll attempt to partially reseal it next. Thanks!
