Hello everyone.
I’m dealing with a persistent problem that affects all Windows versions—7, 8, 10, and 11. Most animations, particularly when closing applications or folders, just freeze or become extremely slow. This issue began randomly on my previous build, which was built for DDR3. After years, I upgraded to a brand new system running DDR4 (full specs listed below). Almost immediately after the upgrade, the problem continued, even with completely new components.
For reference, here are the videos:
The first one is from Windows 10, showing that while animations are present, closing folders results in no animation or a very fast, unstable transition. The next two are from Windows 11. Please watch closely and observe how each time I close something, the animation abruptly stops or stutters—this is especially clear in the third video when I close Chrome. The stuttering becomes more noticeable in slow motion, which helped me identify the problem more clearly.
Also, these videos are recorded at slow speed, so try fast-forwarding to moments when closing programs or folders occurs. This format made it easier to pinpoint exactly when the issue arises.
I understand some might think this isn’t a big deal and suggest ignoring it, but the reality is that this stuttering severely impacts my experience. It’s not just minor—it makes my eyes strain and feels unpleasant, especially on my new 144Hz monitor.
What I’ve tried so far:
1. Replaced the entire PC as mentioned earlier.
2. Reinstalled Windows multiple times, testing various versions.
3. Used four different motherboards (Gigabyte, MSI, Asrock, ASUS).
4. Switched through several RAM modules.
5. Installed both AMD and Nvidia graphics cards.
6. Cleared the system drive completely and reset everything.
7. Applied countless tweaks and fixes found online.
8. Used default BIOS settings without making any changes.
9. Changed peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
10. Tried various other options.
Current specs:
- Intel i9 10850K, stock configuration, no overclocking
- G.Skill 2x16GB 3600Mhz CL16 RAM
- ASUS Rog Maximus XII Hero
- Corsair RM750
- RTX 2080 Ti graphics card
- 1080p monitor at 144Hz (the issue began with a 75Hz display)
In short, the experience is far from smooth—it’s frustrating and not enjoyable to view, particularly on my new monitor.

When you mention upgrading your system, which components were updated and which were reused from previous builds?
I reinstalled Windows multiple times. I experimented with various versions.
Where did I obtain the installer for the operating system?
I tested four distinct motherboards (Gigabyte, MSI, Asrock, ASUS).
Did you reinstall the OS after each motherboard change? With every OS update, does the system automatically download and install drivers? Is this appropriate for your setup?
I moved parts from my old PC to the new one, including the SSD and GPU. Before doing this, I tested the new setup with the iGPU and new SSD, and the same problem occurred.
This is the source for the OS (official MS website).
Every time I reinstall OS, I do it on the same motherboard, and I've tried various drivers—including letting Windows download its own drivers. Still, I usually install drivers from the official motherboard site.
For videos, the issue should be resolved now.
