You can use Microsoft’s site to get Windows 10, which will automatically upgrade your old system. Regarding transferring the product, it depends on the product key—since yours is from Windows 7 Ultimate, it may be restricted unless you have a valid license or activation method.

Depends, if you are signed in with a microsoft account then yes but only on 1 device at a time, if not than chances are slim but still possible if you contact MS support. If it was a OEM key I don't know how those are handled.

I purchased an inexpensive OEM key from eBay for under $10. It works well each time, provided I avoid using a Microsoft account.

Starting from Win7, connecting to a prebuilt setup (like Dell, HP, Lenovo) may lock it. Otherwise, it should run smoothly. Basic rules apply: only one activation allowed at once, and you can't upgrade later. The key functions on both Win7 and Win10, so just switch to Windows 10 and activate it.
