What kind of mouse are we talking about? Or more accurately, what kind of mice are there? Since you dropped one, let's figure it out.
Yes, it is. I performed a ground-level check on the case, but not the DAC.
Please let me know if you would like to adjust the level of detail.
The first one (wired) was the ROCCAT Kone Pro.
Then someone on Reddit suggested using a wireless mouse. Now I use a Razer Viper V2 Pro.
I connect the wireless dongle to the front of the computer, not the back, just in case.
But it didn’t seem to change anything.
I also want to note that static appears only when moving the mouse, and it happens only with certain types of content. For instance, moving it across a blank document shows no static. On a web page with links and text, static appears. Or when moving it over desktop icons, static is present.
Also, static doesn’t occur unless sound is playing through the speakers—whether it’s music or a game. If there’s no audio, silence means no static.
When static is bothersome, the DAC often stops working. Reconnecting it restarts it, but the issue usually returns after about an hour.
The GPU needs to be placed in the first PCIe lane. This is the only slot that connects directly to the CPU. The one with the metal support. The second x16 slot is part of the chipset and uses its bandwidth together with M.2_3.
It might be helpful to return the DAC and explore alternatives. Have you considered changing the USB ports that the mouse and/or DAC connect to? Does the mouse produce static when you're not using the DAC, but instead rely on the analog or optical audio output from the motherboard?
The Soundblaster X G6 also features a 3.5mm optical input. You might connect it with a toslink to a 3.5mm optical cable instead of USB. From the motherboard I/O to the Soundblaster X G6, you can use one of these options:
I agree with the previous posts but have a few more ideas and recommendations.
At first, the case should receive thorough cleaning to eliminate dust and debris.
Also, pay close attention to cable organization (as mentioned before): cables are bent, twisted, and sometimes crimped.
The GPU ribbon cable near the left XFX logo is particularly affected, and the power connector above it isn’t doing much better.
Other cables (not visible) might be similar – to be confirmed later.
My thought is that under load—when processing more complex video or audio—the fine wires in the cables can interfere with each other, causing static noise.
So I recommend moving the GPU as suggested, cleaning the case thoroughly, and fixing any damaged cables that need replacement.
Make sure everything is securely installed.
I’m not certain about heat or temperature issues directly, but based on what I see of the fans and airflow, there could be problems there too.
I’ll postpone decisions on cooling components and interior design until others have more input.
