Hey,

I’ve had this issue since getting my PC about a year ago, and it seems to be getting worse. It happens in almost any game I play – my mouse isn't smooth and either lags or stutters/jitters, which makes things really difficult and frustrating. On top of that, games run poorly even with high FPS rates, sometimes appearing as slow as 30FPS despite consistently hitting 200+ FPS.

Here’s what I’ve found:

* This issue persists even with over 200 FPS.
* I don't experience frame drops.
* Even with CPU and GPU usage below 50% in games, the problem remains.
* Temperatures are normal (around 50°C while gaming).
* V-Sync is off and doesn’t cause it.
* Lowering graphics settings helps slightly, but only improves performance by 5-10 FPS on top of already high rates.
* I’ve updated all drivers.
* I'm using a Steelseries Rival 600 mouse on a 144Hz monitor (MSI).

Here are my PC specs:

* MSI GTX 1060 6GB Gaming X
* Ryzen 5 1600
* ASUS B350 Plus Motherboard
* 24GB RAM (Mixed 8GB HyperX Fury, 16GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200Mhz)
* CX 500 Power Supply
* 250GB SSD
* 2TB HDD

I’m hoping to find a solution to this persistent problem and appreciate any help!

Perhaps it's not mouse related then? Do you get stutters if you just move around with the keyboard? Could be a performance-related issue. I noticed you have an odd stick of RAM, try with just the 16GB (Single stick is it?) in the second slot from the CPU. What does Ryzen Master or CPID say about your memory frequency? What speed are they running at? 1600MHz?

Have you tried a different mouse, pad, or surface, or inspected/cleaned the lens? Have you tried a mouse with generic drivers?

I know you said this has nothing to do with VSync, but does your monitor have FreeSync or G-Sync to rule out frame syncing? Or is VSync set to "Ultra" in Nvidia Control Panel's advanced settings for ultra-low input lag frame syncing?

I’ve just tried another mousepad, but that didn’t fix it. I even tried my old mouse, but that didn't work either. I’ve double-checked to make sure nothing is interfering with the mouse itself. My monitor has FreeSync turned off, and the only VSync setting I could find in Nvidia Control Panel is currently set to off as well.

Turning on versus-sync helps a little bit, if anything. Make sure you have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed and set your graphics card settings to Ultra.

I’ve attempted to optimize my settings, including trying versusync, but it didn’t really reduce the stuttering effect at all. It seems like upgrading graphically doesn't help much either.

Perhaps you're right – it’s not related to the mouse after all. Do you experience stutters when moving around with the keyboard? It could be a performance issue. I noticed your RAM setup - try using just the 16GB (single stick, correct?) in the second slot from the CPU. Let me check Ryzen Master and CP-Z to see what the memory frequency is – are they running at 1600MHz?

When moving around with only my keyboard there is no stutters no matter what I do but as soon as I start moving my mouse around it stutters every few seconds or so, I'm not sure whether it's the mouse specifically or something within windows which is lagging it when mouse movement happens.
I have 2x 8GB 3200Mhz Sticks (G.Skill) and 2x 4GB Sticks (HyperX) Which I believe are lower speeds.
CPUZ and Task Manager say my ram is running at 1333Mhz.
I'll remove my 4GB sticks and test with just the 16GB sticks and I'll make sure it's set to 3200Mhz in bios.

I tried setting the clock speed to 3200MHz, but it’s still stuttering when I move the mouse in the game. It doesn't happen when I move the mouse on my desktop or while using Google. I reset my computer four months ago hoping it would fix this issue, but it persists.
