Mouse moves to additional displays during fullscreen gaming sessions
Just as the title says, when I move my mouse up or to the left (where either of my secondary monitors are) my cursor appears over there, and if I click, it takes me out of my Fullscreen window, I've been able to replicate this problem in both CS:2 and Rust, and yes, I have tried using DMT (Dual Monitor Tools) not the psychedelic.. but it just doesn't work for me because while it does constrain the cursor to my main monitor that I am playing the game on, if I were to say open my inventory, my cursor would be in a random spot on my screen, which in a competitive game, isn't very convenient and is just out-right annoying and inconvenient. I have also tried going into the Registry editor and changing the EnableLUA option from 1 to 0, and 0 to 1 under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System I have restarted with both values and neither seem to fix it, it did work to fix it one time temporarily, but there is also the off chance that I got lucky and since every once in a while, I will get a boot that doesn't have this issue, there is the chance I just restarted and it decided to not have this error. Note: I never had this problem on Windows 10, but after hearing that they will be discontinuing support and forcing a annual subscription for security updates next year, I just decided to go ahead and "upgrade" to Windows 11, but lets be honest, its not really an upgrade in the slightest. But that's not what I am hear to ask about, could I get any help with my issue?
Typically when a fullscreen app doesn't capture the mouse, it points to the app itself rather than a hardware problem. CS and Rust usually handle this well. Have you used any mouse drivers or companion software such as Logitech, Razer, etc.? If yes, does the problem continue after closing the app, disabling its auto-start, and rebooting? Also consider other running apps like game launchers, browsers, Discord, or RGB controls. Clearing non-essential autostarts and trying a clean boot with just Steam and CS—without any background services—might resolve the issue.
Do you rely on the game bar? If yes, restart your PC, avoid using the game bar at all, and see if your games function properly. Once resolved, reopen the game bar and try interacting with friends or similar features. This was exactly what happened to me after upgrading to Windows 11.
Ensure exclusive fullscreen mode is active and disable the Multiplane Overlay MPO.
I also rely on the game bar, but I’m not sure it’s the cause of my issue. It hasn’t happened yet, but I’ll skip opening it during the next reboot. My main concern is the crosshair X and the extension paired with the game bar. Thanks for your response—I’ll check again after the next restart.
I don't think these are my problems, but if the concern continues I'll attempt to disable Multiplane Overlay MPO. Thanks!
