Mouse micro movements in isolation (steelseries rival 5)
Mouse micro movements in isolation (steelseries rival 5)
I recently purchased the steelseries rival 5 mouse and it has encountered some unusual problems. - I returned the first one and received a replacement, so this issue now affects both mice, which have both been updated to the latest firmware.
The problem: The mouse moves on its own or only detects surfaces, making it hard to tell what it's sensing. Since the movement isn't noticeable on the screen, the pointer doesn't react. This isn't a major concern when using the mouse actively, but it's very bothersome because it can wake the screen from idle mode or show overlays like YouTube in fullscreen for no reason. It occurs randomly, sometimes within a minute and sometimes taking up to 30 minutes.
At first, I thought it was a defect, but since two new mice of the same brand have had the same issue right away, I'm confident it's not an isolated problem.
I've tested it on various computers, USB ports, and surfaces, all resulting in the same outcome.
Edit: So the main question is—does anyone know what's happening here or do you have any suggestions? I can't find reliable information online, though my English isn't perfect.
Reduce the sensitivity or adjust the polling rate. It might help to gently loosen the cord, as some wired mice feel overly light and my previous Sensei was quite delicate.
Unfortunately, it's not the problem, but fixing it would be simple.
