Mounting bracket for CPU cooler
Mounting bracket for CPU cooler
I do some heavy overclocking and my dell prebuilt isn't great at cooling my overclocked i7 8700k cpu. There is no easy access to the back of the motherboard so how do I choose a cpu cooler so that I won't have to remove my motherboard and change the mounting bracket. My dell xps 8930 special edition prebuilt Specs: cpu: i7 8700k gpu: gtx 1080 ram: 4x16gb of some dell ram ssd: kxg50pnv2t04 nvme toshiba 2048gb motherboard: dell 0df42j a00
It seems you're unlikely to discover anything similar to most Dell systems built exclusively for that particular cooler. It appears a front case fan might be necessary to improve performance.
This video features someone with a build similar to mine, but using alienware. He simply leaves the bracket in place. At 18:22, he mentions that since these screws are pre-installed, the motherboard doesn't need to be removed. From what I understood, this might be a trial or testing setup? I might be mistaken about that.
I also checked online and discovered Intel liquid coolers are available. Could this be a possibility?
