motherboard, u.2 feature, tips and recommendations
Hi there. I was considering purchasing a new motherboard and narrowed it down to a few options. I’m eyeing the Evga Z490 Dark, which I really like. I’m thinking about diving into heavy overclocking and noticed there’s a U.2 slot available. From what I read, it can be used for storage, though U.2 drives tend to be pricier than standard NVMe SSDs or even with adapters. I was curious about other potential uses for a U.2 port now. Most boards don’t include it, which made me wonder why they’d add it. I’m also checking out the Evga Z490 FTW and the ASUS ROG Maximus XII Hero. If anyone has experience with those models, I’d really appreciate hearing their thoughts.
Anyway, I’m just starting out with PC building and would value some advice on this. Thanks!
I need to keep this in mind. It still feels strange—a board built for heavy overclocking with enterprise storage. I’d probably prefer a different M.2 slot, though I suppose I’d have to discuss that with EVGA’s engineers.
