Motherboard slots for M2 ports
Motherboard slots for M2 ports
I'm testing a X470 MSI Gaming Plus with a Ryzen 7 2700x. The motherboard has two M.2 2280 NVMe slots, the first one is taken by a Samsung 970 Evo. I'm thinking about adding another PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 SSD for the second slot, but I'm unsure if it will meet the required speed. I've checked the official site but still feel confused. Anyone have any insights? Thanks a lot. You can find more info on their website: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X470-GAMING-PLUS.html
2x M.2 ports (Key M) *M2_1 slot from AMD processor* accommodates PCIe 3.0 x4 (first, second and third generation AMD Ryzen with Radeon Vega Graphics and second generation AMD Ryzen with Radeon Graphics) or PCIe 3.0 x2 (Athlon with Radeon Vega Graphics). The M2_2 slot from AMD X470 Chipset supports PCIe 2.0 x4 and SATA 6Gb/s devices (2242/2260/2280/22110). *SATA1 port cannot be used for M.2 SSD installation in the M2_2 slot. *PCI_E6 slot cannot be used when installing PCIe M.2 SSD in the M2_2 slot.*
Thanks for the update, it seems the new 660p isn't quite fitting.
