For the Core 2 Quad 9550, you can use G31 if needed. If not, consider alternative motherboards. You can also perform minor overclocking on G3Q to boost performance and value.

i used p35 and ddr2 for my q9550, but i think g31 might not be strong enough for overclocking. if you have ddr3 memory, you'd need a p45 board. for better results, look for x38 or x48 boards. it seems 1600 fsb could help raise the clock from 2.83ghz to 3.4ghz, though memory performance is crucial. i'm facing trouble getting my chip above 3.4ghz because of the slow ddr2 with 800 ram.

i used p35 and ddr2 for my q9550, but i think g31 might be too weak for overclocking. if you have ddr3 memory, you'd need a p45 board. if you can locate an x38 or x48 board, those would be ideal.
you might want 1600 fsb to boost the 2.83ghz to 3.4ghz, though remember memory has a big impact on overclocking. i'm facing trouble getting my chip above 3.4ghz because of the slow ddr2 with 800 ram.

The best overclocking motherboards for the 775 socket were long time ago, you should consider upgrading to a more recent configuration. If you manage to locate a suitable overclocking 775 M/B on Ebay, the cost of just the motherboard could allow you to assemble an entirely new system.
